What Are Hybrid Lashes?
There’s a lot of conversation about ‘Hybrid Lashes’ at the moment. We think it’s time to unveil the mystery that’s surrounding them. Below we intend to clarify what technique is used to create them, the benefits of this type of lash application and what style of look can be achieved. Whether you are a lash tech wondering what we’re all talking about, a major lash extension lover or simply considering getting eyelash extensions for the first time – we get it! When you’re unfamiliar with the often-obscure lash lingo, it can be confusing. We will guide your discovery through ‘Hybrid Lashes’ to see if they could be an option for you or for your clients.
What are hybrid lashes?
Don’t get baffled by the terminology… ‘Hybrid Lashes’ is a technique which has been used for several years by some of our expert trainers and technicians prior to the new ‘Hybrid’ term. The Hybrid technique is a combination of two different lash application techniques rolled into one set of lashes. For example; individual classic Extend, one false lash extension on one isolated natural lash combined with Russian Volume, multiple lash extensions on one natural lash. This type of lash technique gives lash techs the freedom to be creative and develop their lash application skills. This is achieved by adding long lengths of classic lashes that are strategically placed to create a frame and filled in between with the volume extensions to give a spiky textured look.
Hybrid isn’t a technique which is taught, like Extend or SVS, by Galash Lashes, as the style of lash is created by a culmination of different lash extension techniques, used together. If you are already trained in Extend and Russian Volume or SVS, you can produce Hybrid Lashes with no additional training.
This technique can even be used with Express lashes. Combining cluster lashes and individual lashes together. We have been teaching this to our technicians for years, for example with the lash techs from our NL Key Account Regis.
Many celebs are also loving this technique. Kim Kardashian, often has Hybrid Lashes. Some lash technicians actually call Hybrid Lashes ‘Kim K Lashes’ instead.
Benefits of hybrid lashes?
There are a variety of benefits of Hybrid Lashes and each deliver an individual finish. This particular technique results in an extraordinary rich dark volume set of lashes. If your natural lashes aren’t thick, Hybrid Lashes will achieve a fuller look to fill in any empty gaps. Classic Extend lashes can make low density natural lashes look more sparse. Mixing two techniques together to deliver a unique finish to you.
Are you a creative lash tech?
Experiment! Feel free to set your creative juices flowing. Produce new styles and looks from your lash extensions treatments, by using a combination of your already perfected lash techniques to develop your own Hybrid Lashes.
The Hybrid technique is still a relatively new term, so some lash techs might not have jumped onto the Hybrid train yet due to personal preference or may simply not have heard of the term of this technique.

Classic Silk Eyelash Extensions
Let’s start at the beginning with classic eyelash extensions. This is the most traditional form of eyelash extensions. We’re talking a 1:1 ratio of one extension applied to one natural lash. This means we can only apply as many extensions as you have natural lashes. An extension cannot be placed where there isn’t a natural lash! So, if you have sparse lashes and wish to fill out your lash line, classic eyelash extensions won’t be the most suitable fit for you. You’ll want to read on about Hybrid and Volume extensions.
Now let’s say you have a lot of natural lashes. You want to add some length, have a defined curl, and that look of mascara without the hassle of using mascara. Then classic eyelash extensions are definitely going to be for you.
